5 Tips to Build More Confidence

What eats away at our confidence?

The biggest factor I've found is when we don't do what we say we're going to do!

The source of confidence comes from the belief in ourselves to execute the goals and promises we make. Every time we don't follow through on them, it eats away at our confidence.

ExampleLet's say there was a time you said you would stop eating junk food. The same day you set on that goal, let's say later that day you eat junk food anyway. Have you ever done that before? How did it make you feel?

Let's say you didn't eat the junk food. What happened then? Probably felt your belief increase that you can do this!

This brings me to my first tip.

Tip 1: Set doable goals

When you write a To-Do list only to not complete some or any of the items. Does this happen to you?

Prioritization is key here. What's most important that needs to get done today? Then what is doable within that day? It's very satisfying to check off boxes on your To-Do list and then look at that list at the end of the day knowing you completed it.

Long-term goals require more planning though. What is the bigger goal? When do you want to accomplish it? Then break it down into daily or weekly tasks to reach that long-term goal by the deadline you set. Many people set long-term goals without these smaller actions, which results in failure. The truth is, you can reach your bigger goals! It just takes basic planning and execution to get there.

Distractions surround us, read your goals daily, as many times as you need to so you stay focused. The more goals you achieve the more confidence you'll build!

Tip 2: Positivity

Negativity surrounds us as well! But it's all about what we choose to put our attention on.

I used to have the mindset, "I don't need external motivation or positivity to get things done!" I have constantly proven that theory wrong, to myself. What we surround ourselves with: affects our mindset, attitude, perspective, and energy.

Listen to podcasts around positivity, read your goals, watch uplifting content, read good books, and surround yourself with positive people.

Do not underestimate the difference this can make in your life.

Tip 3: Know your Strengths

We all have our strengths and weaknesses, so choose to focus on your strengths!

I believe everyone has gifts that are unique to them. Take a moment to reflect, "What am I naturally good at?"

If you are having a hard time discovering what that is, ask a person that you trust who can help you.

Maybe you're physically strong, a great communicator, artistic, a natural leader, a problem-solver, etc.

Embrace your strengths! Promote that about yourself to others!

Tip 4: Always make time for learning

When I left school I thought I would stop learning, reading books, and so on. Then I realized I could study any subject that I wanted to! So I decided to take up different subjects that I always wanted to learn about.

The truth is that you can learn anything! Having a strong purpose for learning that subject and holding onto that, a good source of information or a teacher is also a huge help.

Keep your mind sharp and life interesting by always learning something new, because it builds confidence too!

Tip 5: Remember to take care of yourself

Speaking of learning: learning about fashion, fitness, nutrition, health, grooming, skincare, haircare, getting quality rest, self-improvement, etc. can be overwhelming! Exhaustion and burnout will kill confidence. Remember to take things one step at a time.

Find a subject that speaks to you and work on that first. Once, you've mastered that subject of self-care, try the next area!

Create a self-care ritual that works for you and keeps your life more balanced.

Summary

I hope this article helped you! If you know someone who needs help with their confidence, share this with them!
